Folgende Bilder kommen Ihnen vielleicht bekannt vor. An vielen Tagen 2007 malte ich zwei Bilder unter derselben Nummer. Nun, gegen Ende des Projekt sehe ich ein, dass ich die 365 Bilder nicht fertigbringe, wenn diese zweit-Bilder nicht auch ihre eigene Nummer bekommen. 2008 war ein Schaltjahr...
heute zählte ich noch einmal genau nach. In den Tagen war ich beim 1. August, aber die Nummern stimmte nicht, da bemerkte ich einen Nummerierungsfehler. Ich bin also 3 Tage früher an meinem Ziel angekommen! Nun bleibt mir vielleicht noch Zeit, das eine oder andere Bild auszubessern, oder fertig zu malen. Gerne werden wir noch das ein oder andere Mal updaten, zum Beispiel Fotos. Leider geht bei uns aber der Wohnungs-Umzug los, so dass dies noch einige Zeit dauern kann. Schade, dieses abrupte Ende, doch wie froh bin ich nun, und auch dankbar!
Dieses Bild habe ich übrigens zusammen mit anderen im Vorfeld für die Sonn- und Feiertage gemalt. Der Rahmen ist ebenfalls Eigenbau.

2008 was a leap year, so it is actually 366 paintings! Today I recounted. In the days I reached August 1st, but the numbers didn't match up. Then I found the mistake in the numbering of this month. So we reached our goal 3 days early! I might have time now to correct or finish one or the other painting. Every here and there, I will post another update on this site, perhaps with photos. However, unfortunately the moving of our apartment starts tomorrow, so that updating and painting becomes difficult. Too bad for this abrupt ending, but how glad am I to be finished! Thank you all for clicking in every other day, supporting me in one or the other way. Good bye!

The Bern Bear visits Appenzell

When André and I were brainstorming for creative ideas to paint for the remaining cantonal coats of arms, the idea of the bears on the Bern, Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden meeting struck my fancy in particular.
It was fun, researching the traditional costumes, and our recent visit to the Cultural museum in Urnäsch helped! While he painted the two Silvesterkläuse, I spent the two hours perusing the museum, learning!

Dieses Gemälde möchte ich vorerst noch behalten. Es ist eines meiner Lieblingsbilder. Ich habe es innert ca. 40 Minuten gemalt. Meine Frau Angelika sass mir Modell, hielt den Lampion über dem Brunnen vor unserem Haus. Dann begann es zu regnen. Voller Hoffnung malte ich das Bild noch halb im Regen fertig. Das Bild retteten wir ins Treppenhaus, wo frische Farbe, dick aufgetragen, das nasse Bild immer noch bedrohten. Das Resultat gebe ich nun nicht so bald her.

I want to keep this painting at the moment. It is one of my favorites. I painted it in about 40 minutes. My wife, Angelika, sat as the model, holding the paper lantern over the fountain in front of our old apartment. Then it began to rain. Full of hope, I kept painting, finishing the 2nd half of the painting. We rescued the painting by running into our nearby house entrance and stairwell, where fresh colors, applied in thick strokes, were struggling to dry on the wet painting. The result of this "adventure" I don't wish to part with yet.
